The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a professional Twenty20 cricket league in India. The overall value of IPL and the brand value of all the franchises have seen a great rise since 2008. The IPL brand value touches Rs 34,000 crore ($5.3 billion) after the 10th edition, according to global valuation and corporate finance advisor Duff & Phelps.

IPL contributing around ₹11.5 billion (US$182 million) to the GDP of the Indian economy during 2015 season (According to BCCI).

Kolkata Knight Riders on Top in IPL Brand Value 2017 List

IPL Brand Value

Kolkata Knight Riders known as KKR, representing the city of Kolkata in the IPL. KKR is owned by Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan, actress Juhi Chawla and her spouse Jay Mehta.

KKR has been named the most valued team in the Indian Premier League (IPL), according to a report published by branded business valuation firm Brand Finance on IPL 2017.

The IPL team is valued at $58.6 million in 2017, which is 24 percent more than 2016.

The report further mentioned that, when compared with 2016, the value of IPL grew 9 % in 2017 to $3.8 billion.

Stadium attendance increased by 25 percent from 2016 even before the season was over, while last year’s television viewership numbers were beaten already by Match 43 this year.

Social media engagement on all platforms peaked too, with nearly 6 million tweets sent over the season’s first five weeks.

KKR is the fastest growing franchise in terms of brand value with a 24 percent year-on-year growth, while Royal Challengers Bangalore failed to perform both on the field as well as on the commercial front, finishing last on the points table and posted lowest year-on-year growth of 4 percent.
